Cyanotype Workshop by Joseph Kwok, ACM educator.
Participants will experiment with 35mm film photography and learn the basics of shooting in manual mode through exercises, demonstrations, and walkthroughs happening on 29 April and 6 May. An introduction to cyanotype printing on 13 May allows participants to create images without a camera.

Held in conjunction with The Dig, an exhibition at the Asian Civilisations Museum in conjunction with Singapore HeritageFest (SHF). The exhibition chronicles the archaeological dig last year just outside the ACM, the largest ever mounted in Singapore, which uncovered some 3.5 tonnes of artefacts.

What is cyanotype printing?
Cyanotype is a process of making photographic images that does not require a camera. It gained popularity in the 19th century among amateur photographers. Prints produced are white on cyan, a greenish blue, hence the name.
Must I attend both the talk and the cyanotype printing workshop?
What we hope is that you will have fun, so no, please feel free to attend what you feel like attending that night. However, it will help us (in our logistics and material prep), if you indicate which programmes you are interested in when you submit the form.
Who is conducting the photography workshop on 13 May?
Joseph Kwok, one of our Education Team staffers, will conduct this workshop. He helps with organizing teachers, students, and community visits to the Asian Civilisations Museum, and works on a team that creates content for these groups. Often you can see him around the museum, meeting groups when they arrive.
